For over 15 years, APW has been providing waterjet cutting machine and components to a global network of waterjet user from entry level to advanced. Durable and accurate APW waterjet brings the true value to the end user—you.
No matter cutting glass or piercing delicate glass is not a problem with APW waterjet technology. From artistic tabletop inlays to detailed stained glass designs, users from a variety of industries have discovered the versatility and cost-effectiveness of APW waterjet.
If you can draw it, you can cut it! It can be cut like an Artwork!
Hole drilling is easy for our waterjets, as is stained glass cutting at the other end of the spectrum. There’s no need to etch and break when you are cutting glass with waterjets, so there’s less wasted material.
Bullet proof glass is a snap for APW waterjets to cut even though It may be able to stop a 50 caliber shell. Our waterjets is quick and powerful on cutting ballistic glass.
Float Glass and Hurricane Glass are the growing area for waterjet industry as well. As the composition of glass clad/polycarbonate structure with laminate material, Float Glass and Hurricane Glass are very difficult to be cut by traditional methods.
Our waterjets are the superior method for cutting these glass.
Advantages of Cutting Glass with Waterjet:
Cut glass geometry that common machining cannot perform
Delicate glass does not crack during processing
Precisely cut thin to thick glass without changing any tooling
Cuts glass panels up to 9″ (23 cm) in thickness
Eliminates pressure of cutting process on surface material
No heat affected zone (HAZ)
No tool to sharpen
No or reduced need for reworking of the cut edge
No waste of material, narrow cutting gap
Cost effective means of cutting holes in glass
Create intricate design in any shape and size
(Not suitable for the processing of tempered or hot glass)
Stone, tile and marble Cutting
Compared to traditional cutting tools, easy-to-use APW waterjets largely reduce work-in-process time on cutting stone and tile. Our waterjets can cut any stone or tile, without changing any tool in process.
No Heat or Surface Stress
The waterjet does not impart any heat or surface stress onto the stone or tile. Therefore, the material still retains original appearance and strength.
Unique Ability to Cut Intricate Designs
Whether cutting any intricate designs, the unique ability of waterjet to cut at high speed frees your imagination and expands your business.
Advantages of Cutting Stone with Waterjet:
Eliminates most secondary finishing… no rough edges
Little or no waste of raw material
No toxic fumes or dust (in contrast to saws & blades)
No blade or saw sharpening
Ability to cut the most intricate stone, tile and marble designs
Ideal for cutting up to 12″(30 cm) of materials depending on density of product
Eliminates the risk of discoloring or deformation
Flexibility of Saw and Waterjet combination systems
Abrasive waterjets are ideally suited for tough and lucrative applications such as titanium, stainless-steel, brass, and tool steel, with aluminum and steel being the most commonly cut materials.
Abrasive waterjets cut material from 1/16″ inch to 8″ inches thick, in high or low volume. Typical part tolerances range from between 0.003″ and 0.005″ of an inch, although tolerances as close as 0.001″ of an inch can be achieved as well.
Because there is absolutely no mechanical stress, heat distortion or heat-affected zone (HAZ), secondary processing can be eliminated in many cases. Material can be stacked to increase productivity. Setup and fixturing are complete in just minutes.
Because waterjets cut with a narrow kerf, parts can be tightly nested or common-line cut so raw material usage is maximized. This means less scrap on your floor and more money in your pockets.
Whether cutting 8″ inch thick Inconel, stainless-steel, titanium, tool steel, or other materials, you’ll discover the waterjets are versatile enough to cut a variety of shapes and materials.
Advantages of Cutting Metal with Waterjet:
No material deformation caused by heat
No hardening of the material along the cut edge
No changes to the metal structure
No heat affected zones (HAZ)
No hazardous fumes or vapors
None or minimal need for reworking
Because composites are not homogenous materials and are reinforced for greater strength, cutting composites are always considered to be a tough work. As a non-contact cold cutting process, waterjet does not produce heat-affected zones, or leave rough edges and burrs. High pressure waterjet can cut the composites in a fast speed. The abrasives added in the cutting also have grinding function which will make the cutting surface smoother, cleaner and more accurate. Therefore, waterjet is the best choice for composite cutting.
Advantages of Cutting Composites with Waterjet:
Create complex shapes using composites with precision water jet cutting.
NO Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) which is ideal for composites and more.
Ideal for cutting up to 8″(20 cm) of composites materials depending on density of product.
Eliminates most secondary finishing… no burrs or rough edges.
Safe for the Environment; no toxic fumes or dust and garnet is disposable.
Omni-directional cutting. Minimal tolerances. No wasteful raw materials.
Cutting heads do not have to be changed out during manufacturing avoiding aggravating delays.
Thick or thin, waterjet cutting is the most flexible cutting process for granite to foam.
Minimal set up for automated cutting process and minimal downtime for quick seal change.
Cuts without melting.
Can pierce material directly without the need for a pre-drilled starter hole.
No tool sharpening.
One head for all applications, no guessing, no need to change bits.
High or low surface pressure flexibility for sensitive or thick materials.
Tolerances at ±0.003″/.076 mm.
